Overview
Season — Traditional is the flagship format of Golf Nerd Leagues. It's built for friend groups who want to draft a team of PGA Tour pros and ride with them all season — no trades, no waiver wire, no weekly lineup decisions. Just draft well and enjoy watching your guys play.
Each week, the top 10 finishing positions among all rostered golfers earn points (10/8/6/5/4/3/2/1/1/1). The team whose golfer finishes highest wins the week and earns a cash bonus. At the end of the season, the team with the most total points wins the league, with cash bonuses for the top finishers. (Private league commissioners can opt back to the legacy top-5 / 5-4-3-2-1 scale in settings.)
How It Works
Create Your League
Set up a private league as commissioner. Invite friends with a code. Between 2 and 16 teams per league.
Snake Draft Your Roster
Take turns picking 10 PGA Tour pros in a snake draft. Build a balanced roster — you'll need consistent scorers and upside picks across the full season.
Earn Points for Top Finishes
Each week, the Top 10 finishing positions among rostered golfers earn points (10/8/6/5/4/3/2/1/1/1). Earn a weekly cash bonus if your player wins the tournament.
Win the Season
After the Tour Championship, the team with the most total points wins the league. Cash bonuses are awarded for the top teams in the league.

Rules & Scoring
Scoring
Each week, the top 10 finishing positions among all rostered golfers across the league earn points: 1st = 10, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6, 4th = 5, 5th = 4, 6th = 3, 7th = 2, 8th–10th = 1 each. If two golfers tie in a finishing position, they both get the points. Private league commissioners can opt back to the legacy top-5 / 5-4-3-2-1 scale in settings.
Weekly Winner
The team whose golfer earns the most points in a given week wins that week and earns a cash bonus from the league prize pool. In dual-tournament weekends, the main event awards cash while the alternate event is points only.
Season Bonus
At the end of the season, the top 3 teams in total points earn cash bonuses from the league’s season-bonus pool, split by the percentages the commissioner set (default 50% / 30% / 20%).
No Transactions
There are no trades, drops, or waiver wire moves. Your drafted roster is your team for the entire season. Draft wisely.
Keepers (Optional)
Commissioners can enable keeper rules for returning leagues. Only golfers drafted in the 6th round or later are keeper-eligible. If you keep a player, they slot into the same draft round as the year prior — for example, if you draft Brian Harman in Round 6 in 2026 and keep him for 2027, he becomes your 6th round pick in the 2027 draft. You can only keep a player for one additional year; after that, they go back into the draft pool.
Commissioner Options
League Size
Between 2 and 16 teams per league. The commissioner sets this when creating the league.
Keeper Rules
Enable or disable keepers. When enabled, golfers drafted in Round 6 or later can be kept for one additional season. Kept players retain their original draft round slot. Before each new season, members choose which eligible players (if any) to keep.

FAQ
How many golfers do I draft?
Every team drafts 10 golfers in a 10-round snake draft.
What happens during dual-tournament weekends?
The main event awards both points and a cash prize. The alternate event (e.g., Puerto Rico Open) is scored for points only — no cash prize that week.
Can I make trades during the season?
No. Season — Traditional has no transactions. Your drafted team is your team all year. This keeps things simple and rewards good drafting.
What are GNerds?
GNerds are Golf Nerd Leagues' universal progression currency — they're earned across every format (Pick, Drafts, Open Leagues) and roll up to the True Golf Nerd Trophy leaderboard. They're separate from your private league's cash prize pool, which is set and paid out by your commissioner.
How do keepers work?
Only golfers drafted in Round 6 or later are keeper-eligible. If you keep a player, they fill the same round slot in next year's draft — so a Round 8 pick stays a Round 8 pick. You can only keep a player for one year; after that, they return to the draft pool. Before each new season, you'll be asked which eligible players you want to keep.
Is there a cost to play?
Season — Traditional has a $10 service fee per member, paid once per league per season. The promo code 2026 makes it free through August 1, 2026. Member-to-member entry-fee pools (if your league runs one) are between you and your commissioner; Golf Nerd Leagues doesn't collect or hold pool money.
What if a member doesn't pay?
Members can't see the league or take any actions until they've completed payment (or redeemed a promo code that drops the fee to $0). If a paid member later refunds their service fee, they have 48 hours to re-pay any way they'd like; otherwise they're automatically removed from the league. Removed members can rejoin via the invite link if the league hasn't locked yet (draft hasn't started). Full details in our Terms of Service.
