Draft is the lowest-commitment Golf Nerd Leagues format — built for friend groups who want the thrill of a snake draft and a live leaderboard, but without an entire season of weekly check-ins. Pick any PGA Tour event, snake-draft a roster from the field, and watch it play out Thursday through Sunday.
Your league chooses how to score: Winner Take All rewards the single best finisher, Points distributes a top-10 leaderboard across rosters, and Skins runs round-by-round tier money. When the final putt drops on Sunday, the standings settle automatically and the biggest Golf Nerd is crowned.
How It Works
Pick Your Tournament
Create a league for any PGA Tour event of the season. Invite 2–12 teams. (Skins variant runs 2–8.)
Snake Draft a Roster
Once the field finalizes, run a quick snake draft for a roster of 4-10 golfers. Takes 10-15 minutes — do it before the Thursday morning tee time lock.
Choose Your Scoring Method
Winner Take All rewards the best single finisher. Points distributes the prize across the top-10 finishers (10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1). Skins is a tier-based variant — each draft round becomes a tier, lowest finish in the tier wins 300 GNerds, plus a 300 GNerds bonus to whoever drafted the tournament winner. Your league picks the flavor when it's created.

The Field
Draft leagues are tied to a specific PGA Tour event — pick any week of the season. The draft pool is the official tournament field, locked once the event confirms its participants.
Roster Size
Each team drafts between 4 and 10 golfers in a snake draft. The commissioner sets the size when creating the league.
Scoring Method
The commissioner picks one of three flavors when creating the league:
- Winner Take All: The team whose golfer finishes highest wins the entire prize pool. Best for short, dramatic leagues.
- Points: Top 10 finishing positions among rostered golfers earn 10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 points. Highest total wins. Ties share the same point value.
- Skins: Pure tier-based scoring. Each draft round becomes a tier — Round 1 picks compete against each other, Round 2 picks compete, etc. Within each tier, lowest finishing position wins 300 GNerds. The picker of the tournament winner earns an extra 300 GNerds bonus. Total pot per league per tournament: 2,100 GNerds (6 tiers × 300 + winner bonus). No yield bands — pure tier wins.
Draft Lock
All drafts must complete before the tournament's Thursday tee time. Once the first golfer tees off, rosters lock and the live leaderboard takes over.
Cuts & Withdrawals
Golfers who miss the cut, withdraw, or are disqualified contribute 0 to your team. There are no replacements — pick wisely on draft night.
Commissioner Options
League Size
Between 2 and 12 teams per league (Skins variant runs 2–8). Smaller leagues mean more golfers per team and a more competitive draft.
Roster Size
4 to 10 golfers per team. Larger rosters smooth out variance — smaller rosters reward bold picks.
Scoring Method
Winner Take All, Points, or Earnings. Pick whichever flavor matches your group's vibe.
Invite Members
Share a unique invite code with your group. Members sign up and join using the code — no approval needed.
FAQ
Can I be in multiple Draft leagues?
Yes. Each major is its own league — join one for each major if you want, or run a separate league with different friends every time.
What happens if my drafted golfer withdraws before the tournament starts?
If they withdraw before the Thursday tee-time lock, you can re-pick. After the lock, the slot stays empty for the rest of the tournament.
How long does the draft take?
10-15 minutes for an 8-team, 6-round league. The commissioner sets a per-pick timer (60s to 5min). You can also build a queue ahead of time so the draft auto-picks if you can't make it live.
What's the difference between Winner Take All and Points?
Winner Take All is binary — the team with the best single finisher takes everything. Points spreads the prize across the top-10 finishers across all teams (10/8/6/5/4/3/2/1/1/1), so multiple golfers contribute. Points usually has more drama on Sunday.
Is there a cost to play?
Draft has a $3 service fee per member per major. The promo code 2026 makes it free through the PGA Championship (May 14–17, 2026); after that, the fee applies starting with the U.S. Open. Member-to-member entry-fee pools (if your league runs one) are between you and your commissioner; Golf Nerd Leagues doesn't collect or hold pool money.
What if a member doesn't pay?
Members can't see the league or take any actions until they've completed payment (or redeemed a promo code that drops the fee to $0). If a paid member later refunds their service fee, they have 48 hours to re-pay; otherwise they're automatically removed from the league. Removed members can rejoin via the invite link if the draft hasn't started. Full details in our Terms of Service.
